Paul T. Finger, MD, Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of The Ocular Tumor Service at Tulane University School of Medicine, recently delivered the Zimmerman Lecture, titled “Discovery,” at the 2025 American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting in Chicago.
The lecture, co-sponsored by the American Association of Ophthalmic Oncologists and Pathologists (AAOOP), is one of the field’s highest honors, awarded to invited experts whose groundbreaking work has transformed ophthalmic practice.
Dr. Finger’s pioneering contributions, from innovations in ocular oncology treatment and radiation safety to the development of the AJCC staging system for eye cancers, have shaped the way eye cancer is understood and treated worldwide. His humility, vision, and lifelong dedication to advancing patient care continue to inspire generations of physicians. He’s currently leading efforts to establish a dedicated eye cancer service for patients across Louisiana.
