WaveMakers in Medicine

Chiamaka Nwachukwu, MD, an Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Resident PGY1 at Tulane University School of Medicine, has been honored with the ASH Hematology Opportunities for the Next Generation of Research Scientists (HONORS) Award. The award provides research funding to talented first-, second-, and third-year medical students and first- and second-year medical residents who are potential future leaders in hematology.

Research is just one of Dr. Nwachukwu’s skills. Over the past three years, she has served on the international youth advisory panel for The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health Journal, working with extraordinary youth leaders worldwide. Additionally, she is the Program Coordinator for the African Youth Charter Hustlers, an initiative by the African Union that empowers youth leaders from all 55 member states.

Nwachukwu’s work advances medical research and promotes global youth leadership within her community and field.
