Robert “Bob” Garry, Jr., Ph.D., a world-renowned professor of microbiology and immunology at Tulane University School of Medicine, has been awarded the Global VIrus Network Robert C. Gallo Award for Scientific Excellence and Leadership. The annual award recognizes virologists who have made significant contributions to the field through their research and leadership. Garry was nominated for the award by his peers.
Garry has published more than 100 papers in the area of retrovirology during his 40 years at Tulane. He is a leading expert in COVID-19, pathology, immunotherapy, virology, and molecular mechanisms of viral pathogenesis.
