The Louisiana Psychological Association recently named Monica Stevens, PhD, as a director of the LPA Executive Council. Stevens is a Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Tulane University School of Medicine. The LPA represents psychologists across the state and aims to advance psychology as a science, profession, and a means of promoting human welfare.
Dr. Stevens specializes in treating disruptive behavior disorders, trauma, and grief. Since she joined the Section of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry in 2010, Dr. Stevens has practiced in various clinics and organizations, including those that serve the needs of very young children, school-aged children, and adolescents with significant psychiatric and educational concerns, and children involved with the juvenile justice system. She is energized by advocacy efforts that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion for children and families and efforts to improve the well-being of Louisiana’s youth through collaboration and innovation.
