WaveMakers in Medicine

Tulane University School of Medicine is proud to shine a spotlight on Dr. Amber Hardeman, an exceptional Allergy and Immunology Fellow whose work is advancing innovative treatments, supporting future clinicians, and making care more accessible to those who need it most.

With training in medicine, public health, and business, Dr. Hardeman brings a unique perspective to her specialty. Her expertise in high-risk immunotherapy—particularly venom and aeroallergen rush desensitization—is paving the way for safer, more effective treatments for allergy and asthma.

Dr. Hardeman’s research has been published in top-tier journals and featured at prestigious conferences, including the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology/World Allergy Organization Annual Meeting, where Dr. Hardeman was among the rare few fellows invited to present as faculty. Her recent publication in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology In Practice on mold remediation after flooding highlights the intersection of environmental health, allergy science, and disaster response.

Beyond her clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Hardeman is a passionate advocate for improving access to quality care, ensuring that underserved and underinsured patients receive the treatments they need. As the national Fellow-in-Training Representative on the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI) Board of Regents, she plays a key role in shaping national policy and mentoring the next generation of allergists.

At Tulane, Dr. Hardeman is a trusted mentor to Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residents, guiding them on the path to fellowship. Her impact extends beyond the hospital—she volunteers with First Tee to inspire young students and serves as a PRN physician with Tulane Telehealth, supporting the university’s broader community.

“Tulane University is fortunate to have Dr. Hardeman,” writes her colleague, Dominique Cross, DO, MPH, Chief Resident in Tulane’s Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program. “Her relentless pursuit of knowledge, commitment to advancing allergy and immunology research, and dedication to expanding access to care for all patients make her a true standout in her field.”
