Gregory Bix, MD, PhD, a leader in stroke research and neuroscience, has been named a member of the American Heart Association (AHA) Research Committee. This top-level committee, equivalent to the NIH Research Council for the AHA, oversees all of the association’s research funding programs and initiatives. Dr. Bix’s new role on the committee reflects his significant contributions to the field and positions him to help shape the future of cardiovascular and neuroscience research at a national level.
Dr. Bix serves as the Director of the Clinical Neuroscience Research Center, Professor & Vice Chair of Clinical & Translational Research, and the Vada Odom Reynolds Chair in Stroke Research at Tulane University School of Medicine. He’s currently studying vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia, and the effects of aging in ischemic stroke. His appointment to the AHA Research Committee places him among prominent figures in medical research, including directors from the National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). His term on the committee runs through June 30, 2026.
