Maddie Landau, a 2nd-year medical student at Tulane University School of Medicine, presented two projects at the 92nd annual conference of Plastic Surgery the Meeting. The yearly event, hosted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, brings together thousands of plastic surgeons worldwide and serves as an educational and networking event for practicing physicians and learners.
Two of Landau’s research projects were accepted for podium presentations at the conference: Organoids for Idealistic Reconstruction: A Systematic Review on Advancing the Scope of 3D Modeling in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and A Prospective Study of Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Extracellular Vesicle Isolate Product Injected After a Micro Fat Grafting to Improve Graft Take in the Perioral Area and Face. The organoids study was designated “Top Medical Student Abstract.” Third-year medical student Tatjana Mortell also presented at the conference.
Maddie Landau (T2) and Tatjana Mortell (T3) are seen here at Plastic Surgery the Meeting.
“I am beyond excited to present these works on an international platform and represent Tulane as one of the youngest members speaking at the conference this year,” said Landau. “I am proud of not only where plastic and reconstructive surgery as a field currently stands in terms of landscape and scope but also where the field is headed. I remain invigorated by the regenerative capabilities and properties of bodily structures and hope to continue advancing the potential integration of regenerative medicine into the future of this specialty.”
